COVID-19 Think Tank



The Anap Foundation COVID-19 Think Tank was established on 22 March 2020, to help Nigeria respond to the Coronavirus Disease (“COVID-19”) pandemic. The Think Tank is comprised of 18 members drawn from across the 6 geopolitical zones and the diaspora (USA & Germany). Collectively, the Think Tank comprised of volunteers, has decades of expertise in medicine, logistics, e-commerce, economics, finance, law, communications, religious knowledge, academia, mobilization, advocacy, sustainability, governance, grant making, accountancy, actuarial science, health management and international disaster management. 

The objectives of Anap Foundation COVID-19 Think Tank are to:

1.    Act as a catalyst to enhance authorities’ response to COVID-19 and mobilize stakeholders around a coherent and effective action plan.

2.    Be a trusted & credible voice assisting with disseminating COVID-19 related information required to successfully manage the pandemic. We will do this by contributing accurate and relevant information required to beat the pandemic.

3.  Encourage positive interventions by federal, state and local governments; NGOs; private sector; traditional and religious institutions; and other stakeholders to support Nigeria’s capacity to manage COVID-19.

4.    Advocate for the adoption of all health measures and behaviours necessary to ensure that Nigeria keeps the infection rate down and that decisions are inclusive and cover the diversity of incomes, beliefs, gender, ability, access, age and communication needs of Nigerians.

3) OBINNIA ABAJUE: Chief Executive Officer of Hygeia HMO Limited, which is a Health Management Organization. He is also an Accountant and an Actuary with over 22 years of experience in Banking and Financial Services

5) YELE ALUKO (Dr) +: EY Americas Advisory Health Sector Chief Medical Officer and a proven MD/MBA Physician executive.

Currently serving on the boards of some companies and organisations, including Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc. Founder/Chairperson of Alkali Hussaini Foundation, a Charity based in Kebbi that assists in the areas of education and empowerment.

1) DR IKPEHARE (AYO) AHONKHAI: Consultant Physician and Divisional Director of Geriatrics. Member of Nigeria’s civil society. Based in London.

2) RTD COLONEL ABUBAKAR DANGIWA UMAR: Former Commandant Na Armoured Corps Centre. Former Military Administrator FHA and Former Military Governor Kaduna State. He is currently an Ostrich Farmer.

3) PROF KAYODE IJADUNOLA: Provost, College of Health Sciences, Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (Adviser on Epidemology)

4) DR PETER GAIUS-OBASEKI: A Management Consultant with Public Health Experience.

5) DR (MRS) NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA: Economist and International Development Expert. Former Coordinating Minister of the Economy and two-time Finance Minister of Nigeria. Currently an Economic Advisory Council Member in South Africa.

All Think Tank members are Nigerians except * Adwoa Edun who is from Ghana and **Lambert Shumbusho who is from Rwanda.
